The Secretariat
The recognised institutional voice of Kenya’s Mau Mau freedom fighters.
Our Mission
The Mau Mau Secretariat exists to secure justice, recognition and dignity for the veterans of Kenya’s liberation war and their descendants. Established as an institutional body and officially recognised by the Government of Kenya, it unites veteran organisations under a single advocacy framework.
The Secretariat pursues litigation and diplomatic lobbying for reparative justice, documents the historical record before aging veterans pass away, coordinates welfare support through county structures, and preserves the liberation legacy through memorials and education.
“Recognition without compensation is an unfinished promise. Our duty is to complete it while the fighters are still with us.”
